Artist statement:
A true student of the 70s, I spent nearly the entire decade traveling, studying and searching for a vocation through which to make my way in the world and provide for my family. Result: exhaustion! Thus began a hiatus into the comforting and familiar arms of my avocation – the metal arts. I’ve been there ever since, still traveling, still studying and still searching and learning. Result: an exciting vocation creating a wide range of designs fabricated in copper.

The traditional art of coppersmithing is a rare find in our modern world and teachers of the same virtually impossible to find; but, rather than give up, I became my own teacher and have spent nearly 30 years developing my own techniques and styles with copper. Now, I teach others as well as myself and have entered a period in my career where I endeavor to include students and clients as much as possible in all aspects of my work. Whether participating in art shows, demonstrating my craft, teaching apprentices and weekend students, or working with clients to create a unique art piece for their home or business, working with clients and students to create beautiful copper art is, indeed, the vocation I’d been searching for.
