I plan to be in my studio and have a work in progress to talk about. Visitors may purchase my collage greeting cards and my new “Memory Art” book (provided it is back from the publisher by that time!)
Directions to studio:
Address is 5091 Bell Street in the far NW corner of Port Townsend. Follow 49th Street west past the fairgrounds, turn left on Cook at the stop sign, then take an immediate left on Bell. First house on the right. From Hastings Street: North on Cook, .4 miles, turn right on Bell.
Artist statement:
My art is a kind of alchemy in which discarded, forgotten, rusty and dusty objects undergo a transformation, becoming integral design elements in collage constructions. The vintage imagery and 3-D objects I select for my art combine to create layered pieces that are a mixture of the unusual and the playful: part dreamscape, part glimpse into the attic. My finished artwork speaks to the viewer on several levels: seeking beauty and meaning in the mundane; questioning notions of the ideal; recycling; exploring dream worlds; and re-connecting with the past.
