Demonstration:
My studio is on the third floor of my home. My wife and three young kids and I share this lively home at Rosewind cohousing. I will be painting, answering questions and enjoying myself. I am also a stress relief educator and will talk about how this work relates to my art and artists in general.
Directions to studio:
From F Street and San Juan, take San Juan north. Turn left on 35th Street, and another left onto Haines Street. Follow Haines Street one block to where it turns into gravel. Park in the gravel lot. Find the tall blue/green house with the round tower. Some maps show Haines going through from the south - it doesn't - you must come in from 35th as per these directions.
Artist statement:
I get a stack of watercolor paper and start drawing, with an inky brush. I work quickly and intuitively. I let my arm and my mind wander. When something interesting begins to take shape, I add to it and begin creating a pleasing composition. I then bring the drawings to life with watercolors. I make pictures for fun. I set the stage for stories. Seeds of joy pass through me onto paper where they flourish and bloom in the fertile mind!
